In the nineties Adrien left the city and chose for the country life, there she met Edwin Kragten. With him she shared a studio for some years.
Edwin is an all-round artist: he makes etches, sculptures, wall objects, drawings, paintings and works with all kind of materials.
She admires his work because of the depth, the diversity and inner sentimental value.
Edwin tries to eliminate the ratio and works just from experience, from the material: Material Art Development (MAD).
For a few years Adrien runned the gallery MADart and had many exhibitions of his work.
MAD means process, organic and Edwin tried to live in that way.
Behind his MAD there is a way of being that is just opposite our current way of living, a world that shows a different truth.
Adrien had many conversations with Edwin and tried to describe the meaning of MAD and - later on - the meaning of 'Beyond the mind' because of its innovative nature. In a short time MAD developed to new forms of art and new perspectives.That is why Adrien decided to establish a foundation called MADart. She is convinced that the essence of MAD - "beyond the mind" is truely innovative and unique and that it should continue.
The foundation focuses on the content of these ideas, that can be found in works of art, photographic material and set in texts on bases of conversations.
MAD is still growing, the rapid development in the past years shows in the works of art that have been included in the foundation.In 2009 MADart published a bundle of poems. At the moment Edwin is busy with sound expressions, a combination of drawings and sound-recordings he made himself with his voice. .
